U.S. Marshal Tombstone Badge

In 1880 Tombstone, Arizona Territory had fewer than 1,000 residents and was still officially a town. The first town Marshal was Fred White who served less than 1 year when he was "accidentally" shot and killed by outlaw and gunman Curly Bill Brocius. White was succeeded by Virgil Earp who held the office for only two weeks before an election was held and he was narrowly defeated by Ben Sippy. In less than a year the town turned on Sippy and Earp was once again appointed to the office. Earp was the Tombstone Marshal at the time of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
