Pride of the Plains Sharps Rifle 45-70, 30" Oct. Barrel

No. 1 Sporting Silhouette Sharps Rifle 50-70, 32" Oct. Barrel

Dubbed the "shoots far" or "shoot today, kill tomorrow" gun by the plains Indians, to the white man the 1874 Sharps was most commonly known as the "Buffalo rifle." This single shot arm was the most used rifle by the commercial hide hunters of the 1870s, and was also a favorite with the silhouette target shooters of the east and sport hunters throughout the frontier. Ironically although it was designated as the 1874 model, production of this model Sharps began in 1871 and lasted until 1881. The 1874 moniker didn't come about until 1878, when the new Sharps Borchardt was introduced and the company then named it in honor of its 1874 reorganization. Cimarron's No. 1 Sporting Silhouette gun is an authentic reproduction of a typical 1874 model Sharps, with its color case-hardened receiver, hammer and lever, a schnabble-type fore end on a pistol-gripped walnut stock, a 30-inch octagon barrel, double-set triggers, and chambered for the powerful .45-70 Government cartridge. A quality replica of a classic frontier rifle.
